Composer, Producer and Remixer Sebastian Arocha Morton is one of today’s most cutting edge and innovative soundcrafters on the LA scene. His eclectic range of styles includes fusing Dance, Hip Hop, Ambient, Soul, Electro and Pop in very musical ways. His signature touch has led to collaborations with Sting, on the track “Never Coming Home” for the #1 charting “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” soundtrack and the worldwide hit duet pairing Enrique Iglesias with Floetry on the track “Not in Love”.
In 2001, Sebastian began a strong partnership with Andreas Allen (from the UK renowned acid jazz band Outside) which yielded such hits as the Counting Crows “Hanginaround 2004”, hit radio and club mixes like Sting and Mary J.Blige’s Grammy nominated “Whenever I Say Your Name”, Jody Watley’s Billboard #1 “Looking for a New Love”, the Dandy Warhol’s “You Were the Last High” and Outside’s best selling single “Blue Sky” which features the incredibly talented JB Eckl on vocals. They went on to produce remixes for Duran Duran, Common, Ricky Martin, Fat Joe, The Killers, Reik, Camila, Cafe Tacuba, Molotov, Kumbia Kings and Fischerspooner among many others. Together with the London Symphony Orchestra, the duo also contributed eclectic drum programming and production for David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s iconic collaboration “Scent of Magnolia”.
From 2006 to Present, Sebastian’s work with San Francisco’s legendary OM Records and songstress Samantha James has yielded 154 released tracks and two complete albums, Rise (2007) and Subconscious (2010). The first album delivered a #1 Billboard smash titled “Rise”, while the latter Subconscious produced a collaboration with world renowned DJ Kaskade who remixed the single “Waves of Change” into a massive dance hit being played in festivals around the world including: Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, and the Ultra Festival. His co-written songs with Samantha have been remixed by some of the best DJ’s in america, including: Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Eric Kupper, Andy Caldwell, and Johnny Fiasco.
Continuing his musical journey, Sebastian’s work with Donna Summer brought her back to the charts to get the record breaking #1 Billboard hit “I’m A Fire” co-written and produced with the Diva herself. This mega hit set a record for her as the only female artist in history with a #1 Billboard dance hit in every decade since the 70’s. In 2008, he received his second Grammy nomination when his hit song “Make A Baby” featuring Vikter Duplaix was nominated in the Best Urban Alternative Song Category. In 2010, the hit remixes for latin legend Luis Miguel’s “Alguien Como Tu” landed as #1 in the latin and electronic charts for 12 weeks. Shortly after, his remix for Seal’s “The Right Life” was released through Warner Brothers alongside mixes by Tiesto, Pete Tong, Stuart Price and Josh Harris. Adding to his incredible roster of clients, he has had Five #1 Billboard singles, Two #1 Electronic Albums, 2 Grammy nominations, 1 Emmy winning project and over 17 Million in combined sales.
A graduate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music’s Film Scoring/Composition & Production/Engineering Departments with a double major, Sebastian is also engaged in composing and producing with some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Alongside frequent collaborator and Academy Award nominee John Debney, he’s currently producing and arranging for Disney’s Anniversary debuts of “The Iron Man Experience” and “World of Color”. These epic new additions to the parks feature modernized medleys and new arrangements of all Marvel and Disney themes recorded Live at Abbey Road Studios in London. Like all things ROCAsound, the epic orchestral themes played by a full orchestra and choir, are infused with cutting edge electronic programming and vintage and modern synth tapestries to achieve Sebastian’s unique sonic stamp. Among his latest Film and TV works are: MGM’s new remake of “Robocop” (Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton) as well as continuing collaborations with John Debney on the thrillers “Houdini” (Adrien Brody, Kristen Connolly), “Draft Day” (Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner), “The Orville” (Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron), “Mr. Robot” (Christian Slater, Rami Malek), “Alex Cross” (Matthew Fox, Ed Burns) and doing the electronic music production for the Iron Man 2 score alongside Rage Against the Machine. Among his past work is the grand finale for the Oscar nominated film “Little Miss Sunshine”, which also received a 2007 Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack of The Year, Stephen Dorff and Maria Bello Thriller “Carjacked”, Dennis Hopper’s “Americano”, Nick Nolte’s “Peaceful Warrior”, Forest Whittaker’s “Air I Breathe” and Robert De Niro and Sean Penn’s “What Just Happened”. His songs and additional score can also be heard in hit series’: Boomtown, Windfall, CSI: Las Vegas, CSI Miami, Shark, Fringe, Brothers and Sisters, and many others. As a sideman, musician, co-composer and soundesigner, Sebastian has had the pleasure of working with some of hollywood’s biggest composers including: John Debney, Marcelo Zarvos, Bennett Salvay, Pedro Bromfman, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Joseph Williams, W.G Snuffy Walden, Robert Duncan, and Andrea Morricone. He continues his film endeavors by being part of the renowned Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency which represents him as a composer.
